Hyper-local safety alerts, in one app
Consilium is a free app for crime, health, and environmental alerts where you live. It watches more than 15,000 sources across more than 4,000 US cities and sends the signal that can affect your neighborhood, not the story that is only traveling because it is loud. The sections below are the features people actually use, from the first free alert to the optional Premium tools.
Free alerts for crime, health, and the environment
The free app covers three kinds of local risk. Crime intelligence tracks reported incidents and patterns near home, such as shootings, assaults, robberies, and carjackings, and puts them in plain language. Health alerts cover outbreaks, product recalls, air quality, water contamination, and advisories that often show up in a local post before a national headline. Environmental warnings cover wildfires, floods, toxic releases, and chemical spills. You choose the categories you want. The ones you turn off stay off.
A boil-water notice three blocks away and a crime trend on your commute are the kind of updates the free app is built to surface. A sensational story from another coast is not, unless it can actually reach you. That filter is the product. The breaking news problem page explains why a faster national feed is still the wrong tool for a neighborhood.
What you see on the phone
After you set a city, the home screen is a short list of what changed, not a scrolling feed of everything published that day. Alerts name the place, the source, and whether the situation is still active or resolved. Health, crime, and environmental items sit in one app so you are not checking a Facebook group for the water, a scanner page for the street, and a weather app for the smoke.
The public weekly reports are the same subjects, written for anyone on the web. Read the weekly US crime report, the weekly earthquake report, and the weekly chemical incidents report. City and neighborhood detail stays in the app. The pages say so, and the public safety data guide explains what the published numbers do and do not mean.
Premium, when you want more than the alert
Consilium stays free. Premium is an upgrade inside the app for people who watch more than one place or want the forecast, not only the event. You can monitor four cities at once, turn on roaming so alerts follow your location, and open an interactive crime map filtered by severity, category, and recency. Forecasts look at crime patterns and health signals a few days ahead. Neighborhood Watch lets a private group share verified reports. Ads come off. Premium is $4.99 a month, with a 14-day trial using the code TRYPREMIUM. None of that is required to get the local alerts.
Download, then decide
Add Consilium on iOS or Android, set your city, and pick the alert categories you want. The first alerts can show up within minutes, and there is no credit card for the free app. Questions about coverage, privacy, or the trial are on the Consilium FAQ. Health and environmental examples, including boil-water notices and spills, are on the health and environmental alerts page.
